I can’t believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day! This year is already flying by. Last year for Valentine’s Day, we posted a blog called 13 Ideas For Valentine’s Day Couples And Singles. Check it out for some cute and fun ideas to celebrate love this February 14th! I love that we have a day dedicated to love and friendships! It’s so important for us to show the people in our lives how much they mean to us.
This holiday is interesting for me every year because my Valentine husband’s birthday is the day before lol. So I think to myself every year, “Am I a total lame wife if I just give him one thing for both?! Do we go out twice? Or do I give him this for his birthday and this for Valentine’s Day?” Haha. To be honest, Aaron and I hardly celebrate things on the exact days anyways because, you know, life gets busy and you just celebrate when you can, right?! I just don’t want him to feel like the people whose birthdays are close to Christmas and always talk about how much it sucks, especially as a kid, because everyone just gives you one gift for both days lol.
AND not to mention, what is Galentine’s Day? Haha. Well, it’s a day to celebrate the love we have for our gal pals, of course, and letting them know how much they mean to us! So, my Galentine is pretty much always Sami and her birthday is three days before Valentine’s Day lol. Basically I have to buy double the amount of gifts this time of year, twice. Thanks to Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day. Haha. I’m just kidding, it’s not really a dilemma to have two chances to show people how much you love them.
Galentine’s Day Ideas
We hope we can encourage you to celebrate the people you love this month. Whether it’s a significant other or your family or your friends! Don’t let the days go by without your people knowing how much they mean to you! And it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money! It could be so simple.
Sami and I went to Target today to buy some fun Valentine’s goodies! We hung out in our comfy leggings, played with the pups and baked some delicious frosted chocolate chip cookies. This Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe is our current favorite and adding the frosting made it such a treat!! We even made it with almond flour for a lower carb and gluten-free option, but it can be made with regular flour too. We didn’t have that much time since Sami had to go nanny, but if we would have had more time, we probably would have watched Friends or a movie while eating more cookies lol. Cuz that’s what girls do, right?
Some more Galentine’s Day ideas could be going out for dinner, buying each other flowers or having a good old fashioned sleepover. Sleepovers really are fun at any age, right? Haha. I don’t know if we ever grow out of that, let’s be honest. Sami and I actually will be having a sleepover this weekend because we’re leading worship at a youth camp!
I decided today that if I have a baby girl, I want to celebrate “Galentine’s Day” with her every year from a young age. I want her to always know that her worth is not found in the affection from a guy (or lack of) and I pray that she will learn that from Aaron and I. Well, Aaron says she won’t be getting any attention from any guys because he’s gonna regulate all that. Haha.
No matter where you are today, if you feel loved or lonely, know that you are valuable and worthy of love. You may not have found your true love yet, but take it from a girl whose first real boyfriend was my now husband when I was 27 years old…it is WORTH WAITING for the person God has for you. There’s nothing wrong with you if you’re single and it’s totally okay if you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day. Your story is being written and, it could be that right now is not the right time for you to meet your future soul mate, so don’t settle for anything less in the meantime. Enjoy spending your energy and time loving your family and your friends and having the freedom to learn more about yourself. You’re worth it.
