**cue Amy Grant’s Christmas soundtrack and the smell of pine trees and stretchy pants for holiday meals and Santas in the malls and Latino families making tamales (Tamale Wars) and Mariah Carey singing “All I Want For Christmas” back when she could sing**
Every year, I tell myself to take in every moment of the holidays because it truly is my most favorite time of year. Once I moved to Houston, I was overwhelmed with the amount of Christmas extravaganza that permeates this major metropolis! I love it so much.
One of the many must-experience events is the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker Market and it starts today! This 4-day-winter-wonderland-all-you-can-shop spectacular is held at NRG Park and is filled with over 280 national and international merchants, lots of food and special fashion show events. 
IT’S HUGE!!! This fundraiser for the Houston Ballet Foundation, its Academy, and scholarship programs has been going on for 36 years and it started as a humble bazaar in a church. Over the years it has grown into this enormous flight of fancy that has shopping options for everyone, including home décor, gourmet food, clothing, toys, garden items, toiletries, novelties, ornaments, pottery, pewter, accessories and so much more.
We had a chance to experience the Houston Nutcracker Market a couple years ago for the first time and we were blown away. Anything you might be looking for in your Christmas shopping could be found there and with proceeds from each admission and special event ticket that is purchased, plus 10% of all the merchandise bought, going back to the Houston Ballet Foundation, you get to give back during the holidays. Also, the shops can all mail your purchased items to your home so you don’t have to carry them all as you continue to walk around and shop.

Tickets may be purchased at the Market for $20. Cash only at NRG Center ticket windows during the Market. ATMs are available out in the lobby and inside the Market.
**Discount tickets may be purchased at Houston-area Randalls and discount tickets may be purchased online at Ticketmaster for $18.
PARKING
Parking rate is $12 per space at the gate.
