I have always, always wanted to go to Colorado! I’ve seen pictures and people have told me it was so beautiful, but I just never had a chance to go. Well, just recently, both of Aaron’s brothers moved to Colorado and it was the perfect reason for a mini vacay. Plus, it was my birthday that week so that was a sweet bonus! We have a number of fun trips planned for this summer and this one really kicked us off to a great start!
We hiked a different spot every day, spent a lot of good times with our sibs and just took it easy. Life seemed to be much slower paced there, which was refreshing. Aaron was still able to work remotely in the mornings and evenings, we drank coffee and enjoyed my brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s amazing view! Then, headed out on our hiking adventures during the day!
Now, I’m not a mountain woman or anything like that, so I still love wearing my lipstick even when we’re out hiking lol. Aaron was making fun of me because he said I was getting “all dolled up for the trees”. Pretty much the only nature woman thing about me was that I didn’t wash my hair (which is pretty normal for me, I usually go about 5-6 days between washes) & I didn’t shave because we forgot our razors. For Aaron, that’s cool, no big deal…a longer beard is more rugged and more attractive on a man, right? But for me, unshaved legs, arms & armpits…not so attractive. Haha. My lipstick was on point though! I kept licking my chapstick off the first day we were hiking which concerned me that my lips would end up chapped anyways, so I protected them with matte lipstick instead. Fabulous & practical, what up. My favorite Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Lippy from our Lipstick Review blog did not disappoint!
One of the things I was really hoping we’d get to see was some snow and we did! It was like a winter wonderland in May! Our second hiking day, we drove up near Breckenridge and had the best time marveling at the majestic mountains against the clear, blue skies. This was my favorite day. It made me wish we could live there. Now, I have learned to appreciate living in Houston and all that the city has to offer, but I often wish that I lived in a place where there was more natural beauty to see and be in awe of.
When we were hiking and taking in all of the beauty, I was often reminded of one of my favorite scriptures. I love that before we even wake up to worship the Lord, creation is already sending a continuous roar declaring the glorious nature of the Creator.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of His hands. Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge. There is no speech; there are no words; their voice is not heard. Their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4
What amazing views…such in awe of His creation!
Yeeesss, it was so beautiful, Mami!!
